Internal Homeland Security Investigations reports from May and June, obtained by Democracy Forward, show the agency reviewed 82 nonprofit organizations in Pennsylvania alone and weighed deploying undercover agents against groups it described as potentially 'predatory' in voter registration, with scrutiny also extending to Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and Ohio.
HSI drew on 48.4 million records obtained independently by official Heather Honey plus 50.6 million more from the Justice Department; the exact nature of those records isn't described. The Pennsylvania chapter of CAIR and Education Minnesota were both flagged for further research, though dozens of other groups, including 41 in New Jersey, turned up 'no derogatory information.'
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has promised aliens who vote will be found, arrested and deported; the Justice Department has brought a few dozen noncitizen voting cases this year against a backdrop of 154 million 2024 voters. DHS and ICE did not respond to requests for comment, and DHS has separately denied plans to target polling places.
