Russia has roughly 37 combat-capable Tu-95MS and Tu-95MSM bombers left after a strike overnight Friday hit another aircraft at the Engels air base, according to Defense Express, down from 38 reported days earlier by Ukrainian intelligence.

Russia's Aerospace Forces officially list 47 Tu-95 bombers, but Defense Express says at least 10 are already unable to fly combat missions. The outlet suggested the strike, reportedly carried out by Ukraine's SBU using long-range MICH 2000 drones with a 2,000-kilometer range and 60-kilogram warhead, may have disrupted plans for another long-range strike on Ukraine.

Explosions were reported overnight in Engels, in Russia's Saratov Oblast, and satellite imagery has separately indicated damage to a Tu-95MS there.
