Ukrainian drones and missiles struck Taganrog overnight, damaging an Ozon warehouse, homes, stores, and administrative buildings, according to Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar, who reported no injuries. Ozon says the delivery hub was evacuated over a missile threat and that seller goods were never processed there, while a Ukrainian monitoring group says one real target was an aviation complex that services military aircraft.

Separate strikes hit Russia's Samara region, with independent and Ukrainian monitors identifying Rosneft's Syzran refinery as the target, though the regional governor gave no specifics.

The strikes land a day after Donald Trump announced Ukraine and Russia had each agreed to stop hitting the other's energy infrastructure. Zelensky confirmed Ukraine's willingness but doubted Russian follow-through, and Financial Times sources say Trump announced the deal before it existed.

An energy truce that gets announced by a third party before either side has actually agreed to anything isn't a truce, it's a press release with good timing. The refinery getting hit the very next night tells you which version of events was closer to the truth. Announcing peace and achieving peace are two different chores, and only one of them fits on a stage.
