Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a 'roadmap' for renewed Russia-Ukraine talks could surface within weeks, following meetings between U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow and Kyiv. Rubio called the talks 'substantive' but declined to specify either side's 'red lines,' saying only that he was neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic.
Both Zelensky and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov raised the possibility of returning to three-way talks, though neither suggested fighting would stop soon. Reporting from the Financial Times pointed to the status of Ukrainian-held Donbas as the unresolved core issue, while Bloomberg sources said Russia plans to intensify strikes and hybrid attacks over the winter, calling serious negotiations unlikely before next year.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A roadmap with no destination marked on it is just a blank piece of paper somebody's proud of. Rubio's not saying anything happened, he's saying something might happen about something that might happen. Meanwhile the people doing the actual shelling don't sound like they're waiting on anybody's roadmap.
