Fedorov's U.S. trip to attract Pentagon and defense contractor interest, MP says

Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko told Radio NV that U.S. defense officials, universities, and defense contractors are closely watching former minister Mykhailo Fedorov ahead of a planned U.S. visit, framed officially around defense technology projects. Fedorov was dismissed in July when the Rada ousted the entire Cabinet amid a dispute with then-commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, who was subsequently replaced.

Honcharenko says he expects high-level Washington meetings and university lecture invitations, and suggested Fedorov could use the trip to build political support after leaving government. Fedorov himself has said he won't oppose President Zelenskyy politically during wartime but ruled out returning to any government post besides defense minister — a post already filled by Yevhen Khmara as of Aug. 19.
