Ukraine struck three of Yandex's six data centers, located in Sasovo, Kaluga and Vladimir, in what Kyiv described as retaliation for Russian strikes on Ukrainian data infrastructure. Two of the facilities, in Sasovo and Vladimir, have stopped operating entirely, while several modules at the Kaluga site were knocked out.

Outages have spread beyond Yandex itself, affecting other companies' websites and some media outlets, with users outside Russia also reporting problems with Yandex apps. As of October 12, the company had not restored operations at the affected centers.
