Zelenskyy meets Arakhamia and Kravchenko to discuss Prosecutor General’s possible resignation

President Zelenskyy met with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko and faction leader Davyd Arakhamia to discuss whether Kravchenko stays in his post, following an anti-corruption operation dubbed Carthage that has ensnared his office.

NABU detained the head of the Prosecutor General's cybercrime unit over alleged protection of fraudulent call centers and money laundering, and reportedly conducted searches involving Kravchenko himself, his deputy, and a regional governor.

Kravchenko denies any procedural status as witness or suspect, calls the situation political pressure, and says he won't resign unless asked to by colleagues, Zelenskyy, or parliament. His office initially denied he was searched, then confirmed midnight searches occurred at his offices.

When an office first denies a search happened and then admits, well, actually, it did happen at midnight, that's not a communications hiccup, that's a tell about who's managing the story. Kravchenko says he has no procedural status while sitting at the center of a case that might end his career anyway. Ukraine's got bigger fights on its plate, but nobody said the ones at home would wait their turn.
