Russia plans to produce up to 14,000 Dan-T weapons in 2027, RBC-Ukraine sources say

RBC-Ukraine reports, citing sources, that Russia plans to produce up to 2,000 Dan-T jet-powered munitions by the end of 2026 and as many as 14,000 in 2027. The figures have not been independently confirmed, and estimates vary: a Ukrainian military analyst had earlier put the 2027 number closer to 10,000.

Rostec unveiled the Dan-T publicly at an airshow in Egypt this month, describing it as a fire-and-forget loitering munition with a range of several hundred kilometers, low-observable features, and terrain-following guidance that supposedly complicates interception. None of those manufacturer claims have been independently verified.

Ukraine's Air Force has already begun logging a weapon it calls Banderol/Dan-T in nightly drone-and-missile barrages, including one intercepted during a 172-weapon overnight attack on Sept. 20-21. Whether that single intercepted unit represents the vanguard of thousands remains, for now, a projection.

When the only numbers on the table come from unnamed sources and a defense contractor's own airshow pitch, the smart move is to treat both like a fish story until somebody with a tape measure shows up. Rostec calling its own missile hard to detect is exactly the kind of claim a salesman makes about the truck he's trying to move off the lot. Ukraine's air defenders will find out the real production numbers the hard way, which is the only kind of confirmation this story is likely to get soon.
