Germany's government is weighing new pressure on Russia after Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt formally attributed an Aug. 4 drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport to Moscow, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Officials are reportedly discussing measures against Russia's so-called shadow fleet of tankers in the Baltic Sea, including tougher administrative and legal hurdles.

Social Democratic lawmaker Siemtje Möller backed the quick attribution to Russia. Vladimir Putin rejected the accusation outright, claiming Berlin's evidence was fabricated; Berlin rejected that claim right back.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Two countries calling each other liars over a drone is not exactly breaking news, it is more like the neighborhood's oldest argument getting a new coat of paint. Berlin says it has the goods, Moscow says the goods are fake, and the rest of us are left watching two men point at each other's trucks and yell about who backed into whose fence. Somebody's telling the truth here, but you would not know it from either press conference.
