Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says talks with the US halted after an Israeli strike killed a senior Hezbollah intelligence commander and his family in Beirut's Dahieh district, with Tehran threatening a wider regional response the same night.

Ghalibaf also described a dispute over the Strait of Hormuz: after the US lifted a blockade early, Trump posted on social media that Iran would open Hormuz in return, a claim Ghalibaf says he rejected and threatened retaliation over unless it was deleted. He claims Trump removed the disputed wording 58 minutes later.

Efforts to revive the interim US-Iran agreement remain stalled, with both sides blaming each other over sanctions, blockades and maritime access, while Tehran insists Hormuz stays closed until its demands are met and Washington presses for freedom of navigation.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A ceasefire process that can be derailed by one social media post and salvaged by deleting it in under an hour is not diplomacy, it's improv theater with warships as props — and Tehran's account, however self-serving, at least explains why nobody trusts the paperwork.
