India's Embassy in Kathmandu marked the country's 80th Independence Day with a flag hoisting by Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, a broadcast of President Droupadi Murmu's address, and the honoring of widows and next of kin of 11 deceased Indian Armed Forces personnel with insurance cheques totaling NPR 8.2 crore. The embassy also handed out awards for painting, quiz and run competitions and announced book grants for 22 institutions across Nepal.
