Ukrainian forces have reportedly been ordered to hold fire from midnight September 5 through the end of September 8, according to Ukrainska Pravda sources inside several brigades and Ukraine's security establishment, timed to a visit by U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.

Ukrainian authorities have not officially confirmed the order. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that Ukraine would ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace during the visit and called on Russia to halt its own airstrikes during the talks, saying the safety concern was for the American negotiators, not for Russia.

Moscow has not responded to the proposal. Witkoff and Kushner are expected in Moscow on September 5 and in Kyiv the day after.
