A Russian guided aerial bomb struck Sumy's central cemetery on Sept. 29, damaging more than 50 graves, as part of a four-bomb attack that also hit a school and residential buildings. Two people were killed and the number injured rose to nine, including three children.
About 40 students sheltered in the school's basement and were evacuated along with roughly 100 others; preliminary reports indicate none of the children were injured. President Zelenskyy called for increased international pressure on Russia following the strike.
