Czech intelligence chief Michal Koudelka warned at a Prague security conference that Russia could escalate hybrid attacks against NATO states in coming months, potentially including sabotage of Ukraine-aid facilities, strikes on weapons depots, or even a limited military operation against a member state.

Koudelka stressed the threat 'is not imminent' and that Czech counterintelligence has no specific information of immediate danger, while noting most Russian forces remain tied down fighting in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš publicly rebuked Koudelka afterward, invoking the Czech intelligence service's own motto to 'listen, watch, and remain silent,' arguing such information belongs with the government rather than in public remarks.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A spy chief says keep an eye on Russia, and his own prime minister tells him to hush up and let the professionals handle the worrying. That is an odd way to treat a warning you presumably hired the man to give. If the motto really is listen, watch, and stay quiet, somebody forgot to hand a copy to the prime minister before he got in front of a microphone.
