President Trump told the UN General Assembly he faces a choice to strike a deal with Iran or ‘annihilate’ it, asking whether to ‘drive them into hell with no chance of survival.’ He predicted a deal would come after the midterms, saying Iran is waiting to see his political fortunes despite his not being on the ballot.

The Pentagon has confirmed 19 U.S. troop deaths in the conflict, though the Washington Post puts the real toll at 22 or 23, with roughly 830 injured; Trump's approval rating has hit a record low of 32 percent amid diesel at $6.52 a gallon and energy costs up 16.3 percent year over year.

Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz under a U.S. naval blockade, and the Senate is expected to vote on another War Powers Resolution this week to curb Trump's unilateral war-making.

Odd thing, a war whose ending waits on an election the man isn't even running in. He's got 19 dead troops confirmed, a Post count that runs higher, and 830 hurt, and the timeline he offers is a campaign calendar. When somebody tells you he'll either make a deal or annihilate a country, believe the part he has already done.
