Russia's Federal Security Service says it detained a foreign national in the Murmansk region on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack in Moscow at Ukraine's direction. According to the FSB, the man used a drone to scout a Moscow train station, targeting freight trains carrying petroleum products and administrative buildings, before heading north to try to cross into Norway, where he was instead caught for a border-zone violation.
In an FSB-released video, the man — speaking accented Russian — says he applied to Ukraine's territorial defense forces between 2023 and 2026 and contacted a pro-Ukraine group via Telegram, describing himself as a drone, AI, and robotics expert. The FSB separately said it detained eight more people in June over an alleged plot against a defense plant near Moscow involving 35 explosive-laden FPV drones supposedly smuggled from the EU.
