Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc met U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington Thursday, their second meeting this week, with a new round of 50% tariffs on Canadian goods set to take effect August 19 with no CUSMA exemptions.

Greer has said the tariffs respond to provincial bans on U.S. liquor, Canada's dairy supply management system, and quotas on U.S. vehicles. Ontario Premier Doug Ford called for a deal protecting auto, steel, aluminum, forestry and agriculture, while Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette warned some industries could enter
