Prosecutor General Kravchenko files criminal charges against NABU director Kryvonos

Outgoing Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has filed criminal charges against National Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Semen Kryvonos, alleging document theft during the so-called Operation Carthage and accusing Kryvonos of forgery and arranging a sham adoption to dodge liability. Kravchenko claims President Zelenskyy previously blocked him from filing the charges for political reasons.

A second charge targets an associate of SAPO head Oleksandr Klymenko over alleged influence-peddling with a High Anti-Corruption Court judge, which Kravchenko says triggered the raids on his own office. Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7, calling it a political decision, and says he holds no formal role in the Carthage case despite being its subject.

Kryvonos has responded that he has not been formally charged and calls the case fabricated. Ukrainska Pravda has reported evidence of surveillance targeting anti-corruption officials found during a related search, and noted the Prosecutor General's Office has a history of prioritizing the attack over its legality.
