Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota's lieutenant governor, defeated Rep. Angie Craig to win the Democratic Senate nomination, according to an Associated Press race call. Flanagan drew endorsements from Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and campaigned on expanding Medicare and dismantling ICE, while hammering Craig over her past vote for the Laken Riley Act.

Craig outraised Flanagan and had backing from Pete Buttigieg and Tammy Baldwin, but that money advantage didn't survive contact with the immigration issue in a state still reeling from a federal enforcement surge. On the Republican side, former sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya won her primary.

Flanagan will face Tafoya in the fall for the seat.

Two well-funded moderates lost to insurgents this cycle already, and the pattern here isn't subtle: telling voters you regret a vote after the fact reads a lot like telling them you'll do it again if it's convenient. Democrats keep discovering that base voters can, in fact, read a voting record.
