Florida's summer 2026 bar exam passage rate fell to 75.2% among first-time takers, down from 78.4% last year, even as the number of test-takers rose to 2,250 from 2,152.
Florida State led all schools at 91.8%, prompting its dean to call the results an extraordinary reflection of student talent and faculty commitment, while Cooley Law School's first-timers passed at just 39%.
The results follow the Florida Supreme Court's decision to end its three-decade reliance on the American Bar Association as sole accreditor, a move Governor DeSantis championed by calling the ABA a partisan activist organization — a month before the ABA itself voted to drop the diversity accreditation standard that touched off the fight.

A dean calling a 91.8% pass rate extraordinary is the academic version of bragging your tomatoes grew this big, when the neighbor's plot next door only grew 39%. The bigger story here is the accreditation fight that ended with both sides getting what they wanted and nobody having to admit it. The ABA dropped its diversity rule right after Florida dropped the ABA, which is a coincidence the way a dog dropping a bone right before you take it away is a coincidence.
