President Trump presented six National Medals of Science and Technology and Innovation at a White House-branded summit called Science: A New Golden Age. The administration says the honorees advanced general-purpose computing, semiconductor design, and hyperscale infrastructure.
The release leans on a report from OSTP Director Michael Kratsios, who called the recipients architects of the future and framed the day's announcements as the sequel to Vannevar Bush's 1945 science policy blueprint. The administration promises major coordinated announcements with private partners throughout the day.

Giving a medal to the people who built the computers is fine by me, they earned it long before anybody hung a banner over it. Naming your own summit a Golden Age is a bit like a man painting ‘Best Cook in the County’ on his own grill before the potluck starts. Vannevar Bush wrote his blueprint and let the next eighty years decide what it was worth, and these folks could stand to wait that long too.
