Volgograd hit by overnight missile strikes as large fires erupt across the city

An overnight missile strike hit Volgograd on September 11, triggering large fires and explosions, according to local monitoring channels. Regional Governor Andrey Bocharov said 'debris' landed at an industrial site and damaged an apartment building in the Krasnoarmeysky district.

The same night, a drone strike hit Saratov, sparking fires at an oil facility and an Ozon warehouse.

Volgograd has been targeted before: in June, Ukrainian missiles struck the Titan-Barrikady defense plant, one of Russia's largest arms manufacturers, producing components for several ballistic missile systems.

Calling a missile strike 'debris' is like calling a flat tire 'a change in tire shape.' The governor's word choice tells you exactly how much he'd like this story to just go away on its own. It won't, because the fires in the photos don't much care what you call the thing that started them.
