Zelenskyy says Black Sea blockade could leave countries without enough food

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Yalta European Strategy meeting that the Black Sea food corridor is now effectively blocked on both the Ukrainian and Russian sides, calling it a challenge not just for Ukraine but for the world. He said he has discussed the situation with Egypt, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine itself will not go hungry, though falling grain prices and disrupted export logistics will hurt domestically. He warned other nations dependent on that grain could face far worse, comparing the situation to a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, but for agriculture.

He argued that even without a full peace deal, an energy ceasefire and food security arrangements remain achievable, and said Ukraine has been raising these concerns for some time.
