The White House promoted its official app as a 'no noise' alternative for real-time updates after suspending pool coverage from networks it has banned, including CNN. CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale examined the app's 'accomplishments' section and found the gas price, inflation rate, and GDP growth figures were all outdated by months or quarters.
Dale found the cited gas price was from seven months earlier, before prices rose more than $1.50 per gallon to $4.48 according to AAA; the inflation figure was similarly stale, with the more recent August rate a full percentage point higher; and the GDP growth figure came from three quarters prior, nearly three points above the most recent available quarter.

Any outfit that promises you the news with no noise and then hands you gas prices from seven months back is selling you a photo of the fish, not the fish. Prices went up a buck and a half since that number was true, and everybody filling a tank already knows it. You cannot ban the people doing the arithmetic and expect the arithmetic to change.
