Twelve ACA marketplace insurers filed 2027 rate requests in Florida, ranging from AmeriHealth Caritas Florida's proposed 39.14% increase down to Centene Venture Co.'s 3.87%. Five carriers are exiting the Florida market entirely, though Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida is returning after sitting out this year.

An AP analysis found 442,785 Florida residents who had marketplace coverage in 2025 were uninsured in 2026, following the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits that helped trigger last year's government shutdown fight. Nationally, 276 insurers filed 2027 rate changes ranging from a 1% cut to a 54% increase, with most falling between 10% and 25%.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Florida led the country in Obamacare enrollment and now leads it in people falling off the rolls, which is the kind of record nobody puts on a campaign mailer. When the subsidy expires and the premium goes up in the same year, that's not two separate problems, that's one bill with two line items. Open enrollment starts November 1st, and a lot of people are about to do that math themselves.
