Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Friday it was time to end the war with the United States, claiming Iran holds a position of strength and that the world acknowledges its victory after U.S. strikes on schools, hospitals and infrastructure. Iran's Foreign Ministry separately accused Washington of 'economic terrorism' after the U.S. said it would escalate sanctions.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent vowed Thursday that Washington would 'collapse' the Iranian regime through its sanctions campaign, nearly six months into the conflict. China criticized the U.S. move, with a foreign ministry spokesperson saying sanctions and pressure won't resolve the conflict and calling for diplomatic solutions.

Washington has pressed other governments, including Beijing, to help isolate Iran's economy further, though China's public response Friday was a polite refusal dressed as diplomatic advice.
