Judge suggests Trump’s most recent birthright citizenship orders may require new lawsuit

A New Hampshire federal judge signaled skepticism that the ACLU can use its existing case to block Trump's newest executive orders narrowing birthright citizenship, suggesting a fresh lawsuit may be required instead.

Judge Laplante said the case he already ruled on, which the Supreme Court affirmed against Trump's first executive order, is ‘essentially over,’ since the new orders target a different class of people.

The ACLU argued the orders are functionally the same effort dressed up differently, while a separate Maryland judge has already blocked the same orders through the original 2025 case.

Round two shows up wearing a slightly different hat and a judge is being asked to pretend he's never seen this dog before. The administration keeps rewriting the same order hoping the courts get tired before it does.
