The Wall Street Journal reports Ukraine's domestically built 'Lima' electronic warfare system successfully jammed two hypersonic Russian ballistic missiles earlier this year, sending them crashing into the Dnipro River instead of a Kyiv government facility.

Soldiers from the Night Watch EW unit say Lima works by flooding the airspace with false GPS coordinates, spoofing missile guidance computers across distances up to 200 kilometers — the same technique reportedly caused Kyiv phone navigation apps to show users located in Peru.

Commanders say Lima suppresses 70 to 95 percent of radio-guided drones in its operating area and was used to down a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile last November, a weapon the Kremlin had marketed as impossible to intercept.

Experts caution the system can't fully replace kinetic interceptors like the Patriot during heavy missile barrages, but offer a far cheaper layer of defense for cities and power infrastructure.
