The Economist reported seeing an unpublished poll on a hypothetical Ukrainian presidential race showing Zelensky leading with 21%, Zaluzhnyi second at 18%, fired defense minister Fedorov third at 16%, and Budanov fourth at 8%.

The poll was reportedly conducted before Fedorov's video address calling for a mechanism to resume democratic elections despite the war, a suggestion Zelensky's office dismissed as demonstrating 'a complete lack of realism.'

Zelensky fired Fedorov in July amid a reported conflict with the armed forces commander in chief, after which protests demanding his reinstatement spread across Ukrainian cities.
