Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that a Russian drone strike sparked a fire that burned 14 vehicles and damaged 13 more in a parking lot adjacent to an animal shelter in Odesa Oblast on October 8. Firefighters kept the blaze from reaching the shelter's main building and indoor animal housing.
Fourteen rescue personnel and three emergency vehicles responded. The strike was part of a wider overnight assault in which Russia launched 142 drones nationwide, of which Ukrainian forces say they intercepted or jammed 126, with strikes still hitting seven infrastructure sites.
