Ukrnafta and ORLEN explore refining Ukrainian crude in Central Europe

Ukraine's Naftogaz Group and Poland's ORLEN signed two memoranda at the Carpathian Eight Summit: one for three LNG cargoes in early 2027, another for up to $500 million in petroleum product supplies to Ukrnafta. The companies also floated exploring Ukrainian crude oil processing at Central European refineries and transferring used fuel tanker trucks to Ukrnafta.

Executives from both sides offered the standard mutual-admiration quotes about strategic partnership and regional resilience. The deal builds on an existing relationship, including a November 2025 contract for 300 million cubic meters of U.S.-sourced LNG and ORLEN's earlier interest in acquiring a stake in Ukrnafta, first floated in May 2026.
