RFK Jr. Falsely Claims New Evidence Supports Splitting MMR Vaccine

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told CNN a “recent” study “very strongly supports” splitting the MMR vaccine into three shots, backing President Trump's executive order pursuing single-disease vaccines that haven't been available in the U.S. in nearly two decades.

No such study exists in the National Library of Medicine's database, and vaccine experts at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Oxford and Johns Hopkins all said splitting the shot would mean more shots, delayed protection, and no safety benefit. HHS did not respond to a request for the study's identity.

Trump himself called the combined vaccine 'quite lethal' and compared it to 'a nuclear weapon, according to some,' while signing the order. A study that did surface in the search, examining 2.5 million children, found no link between the combined vaccine and autism — the opposite of what Kennedy claimed.

There was a time when the nation's top health official citing a study meant you could, eventually, read the study. Now the citation is the evidence, the vibe is the data, and the department that can't locate its own homework is asking parents to trust it with the immune systems of children. If the case for a policy rests on a paper that exists only in the secretary's telling, the policy doesn't have evidence — it has an alibi.
