George Russell won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from pole, holding off a late charge from Max Verstappen after two safety cars erased his lead, to take his third win of the season and first since June.

Kimi Antonelli crashed in qualifying and fought back to fifth, but with an 81-point lead over Russell heading into the weekend, the result barely dents his position atop the standings.

Russell now trails by 66 points with the season's shape largely unchanged: one driver has been fast all year, and this was the other one's turn.
