A one-year-old was hit by a firework and taken to hospital near a blockaded school in Saint-Cyr-l'École, outside Paris, as student protests over poor school conditions turned violent. A high school student was arrested in connection with the incident.
Around 100,000 protesters marched through Paris, with some setting fire to bins and launching fireworks at police, who responded with tear gas and baton charges. The unrest, which began in September over decrepit classrooms and staff shortages, has spread nationwide, with more than 450,000 people reported taking to the streets and over 1,000 schools closed.
