Ukraine is testing five types of high-speed interceptor drones meant to counter Russian attack drones, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Financial Times, with one model expected to reach roughly 400 units by the end of October. The other four models remain in testing.
Zelenskyy said the program faces a shortage of engines, most of which Ukraine still imports, along with funding constraints hampering mass production of defense systems. He said Ukrainian air defenses are currently intercepting about 70 percent of drones in large-scale attacks, though only 57 percent of jet-powered Shahed drones.
