Presidential technology adviser Serhii Beskrestnov says Russia may have planted one to three hidden Mesh-network repeaters inside Kyiv to guide Shahed drones remotely during attacks, rather than relying on preset routes, though he stresses this is unconfirmed.
His suspicion stems partly from a strike on an SBU building with no other drones nearby to relay a signal, and from questions about how Russia might reach long-range Mesh control from its own territory. Specialists examining downed-drone debris have not yet found equipment confirming the theory.
The assessment follows repeated Russian strikes on Kyiv's Southern and Northern bridges in early October, which damaged roadways and power infrastructure and closed the Southern Bridge to traffic. Ukraine says it currently intercepts about 70 percent of Russian drones overall and 57 percent of jet-powered ones, with new interceptor models now in combat testing.
