A viral video from pastor Jack Hibbs claims a Muslim family in the Middle East recently bought 'one of the biggest Bible-producing publishers in the world' and urges viewers to buy physical Bibles quickly before the text is altered. Hibbs does not name the publisher or provide any evidence for the claim.

Snopes contacted HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Cambridge University Press, EvangelicalBible.com, Humble Lamb, and Lifeway Christian Resources; none had any knowledge of such a sale, and searches found no news coverage supporting it. Hibbs did not respond to multiple requests for comment, and Snopes has left the claim unrated pending further information.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A pastor who won't name the company, the publisher, or the buyer has nonetheless successfully convinced strangers on Facebook to ask Snopes to confirm his homework for him. This is less a Bible-buying emergency than a case study in how quickly 'I heard something' becomes 'get your Bibles NOW.'
