France has opened disciplinary proceedings against Ambassador Bruno Foucher, its top diplomat in the Central African Republic, following a report in Le Canard enchaîné alleging he brought around 30 women to his official residence in Bangui between January 2024 and March this year and had sex with some of them. The French foreign ministry is investigating a potential security breach, since some women reportedly stayed overnight. Foucher, 65, has led the embassy since 2023 and has not commented publicly.
