Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces commander Robert Brovdi says Russian Maj. Gen. Anton Grunis was killed on September 12 in Kindrativka, Donetsk Oblast, in a strike his unit released video of. Brovdi says Grunis had reported the capture of Kostiantynivka to Putin in July and received Russia's top military honor for it.
Grunis commanded the 4th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, a unit formed in 2014 from separatist militias, and had also taken part in the 2014 occupation of Crimea. Brovdi called him the seventh brigade-or-higher commander eliminated by his drone units.
