Foreign Policy examines an Iranian AI-generated Lego animation series mocking U.S. and Israeli officials, produced by a small outlet called Akhbar Enfejari operating with roughly ten people on consumer-grade hardware. The first viral clip, from March, showed a Lego Trump waking to missiles striking a U.S. warship and drew millions of views before YouTube suspended the channel in April; the group has since released more than a hundred videos across multiple platforms.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed the videos as “stupid” at a July press event in Manila, unprompted by any question about them. The analysis argues that generative AI has lowered the cost of propaganda production to the point where a tiny team can produce culturally distinct messaging streams for multiple audiences simultaneously, a capability that once required much larger organizations.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A cabinet secretary standing at a podium in Manila, bringing up cartoon Legos nobody asked about, tells you plenty about who's actually rattled. Ten people with laptops made a top U.S. diplomat feel he had to swat at a bug in front of the world press. Calling something stupid while answering to it in an official capacity is its own kind of confession.
