President Trump told a rally crowd in Tennessee on Saturday that he could say the stupidest things and they would still clap for him, a joke delivered mid-victory-lap in a state he has won three times and did not need to visit.
He used the stop to thank supporters and rehash grievances about the 2020 election, then pivoted straight back into insisting that he and his crowd only deal in common sense.
The crowd obliged by chanting his name, which he thanked them for, apparently without irony.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
When a man tells you to your face that you'd clap for anything, the polite thing is to sit on your hands for a minute and see how he takes it. They chanted his name instead. He drove all the way to a state he already owns just to tell the people who gave it to him that he could talk nonsense and they'd cheer, and then he went and proved it with the 2020 election. Common sense, he called it.
