The UK government will change how it presents student loan costs to borrowers following a critical report from MPs alleging a £200 billion mis-selling scandal, according to the Telegraph. The report reportedly found that the way loan terms were communicated left students without a clear picture of what they were signing up for.
Details of the specific changes and the underlying report's findings are not fully described in the available material, though the piece frames the reform as a direct government response to parliamentary pressure.

Two hundred billion pounds is a lot of money to owe without anybody bothering to explain the terms clearly, and it takes a special kind of institutional confidence to call that an oversight rather than a design choice. Clearer paperwork now is nice, but it doesn't hand back what already got signed away. The students who took those loans in good faith deserve better than a government press release admitting the label was wrong after the fact.
