CNN's Harry Enten said current polling gives Democrats a 67% chance of winning both the House and Senate in 2026, up from 52% in August. He cited strong Democratic numbers in Iowa, Alaska, Kansas and Michigan, and pointed to Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton's net popularity of minus 16 points as a sign of Republican trouble.
Enten attributed much of the shift to Trump's underwater approval on immigration, trade, tariffs, Iran, the economy and inflation, calling the numbers atrocious. If polling holds, he projected Democrats would hold 54 Senate seats to Republicans' 46.
