Michigan's Working Families Party joined a bipartisan coalition urging voters to reject a proposed constitutional convention on this November's ballot, a question the state's constitution requires every 16 years. If approved, 148 elected delegates would convene to consider changes to the state constitution, which voters would then have to ratify.

Coalition members, including the ACLU of Michigan, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, and the Michigan AFL-CIO, argue the process would expose the constitution to influence from wealthy special interests. A recent poll found 47% of likely voters support holding a convention, versus 31% opposed and 22% undecided, a shift from 2010 when 67% voted the idea down.
