Russian drones struck the international vehicle checkpoint at Starokozache in Ukraine's Odesa region, on the border with Moldova, killing two people and injuring three, according to Ukrainian border and regional officials. The crossing has been suspended. Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed the strike, claiming the checkpoint was used to move military cargo into Ukraine.
The strike came a day after a drone crossed from Ukraine into Moldovan airspace, prompting Moldova to close its skies and Romania to scramble two F-18 jets before the drone drifted back into Moldova and came down there without casualties.
