Ukrainian lawmaker Roman Kostenko told Radio NV that Russia has shown no genuine interest in negotiating, pointing to talks where Russian delegates arrived seemingly unaware of their own government's position.
Kostenko criticized colleagues such as Danylo Hetmantsev and Oleksii Honcharenko for publicly pushing immediate peace talks, calling their proposals political grandstanding that offers nothing not already rejected. He argued Russia is exploiting its air power advantage to pressure civilians and wear down public will rather than negotiate in good faith.
He said any agreement under current conditions would only let Russia regroup for future advances, and that ending the war must not mean Ukraine's defeat.
