Russia will call up about 120,000 men for compulsory military service this fall, with conscripts departing for posts starting October 10, according to Colonel General Yevgeny Burdinsky of the General Staff. He said conscripts will not be sent to the war in Ukraine or the occupied regions, the same assurance given before the spring draft, which sent out more than 140,000 conscripts.
Since 2026, Russia has run what officials call a 'perpetual' draft, calling people up year-round but dispatching them to posts only in spring and fall cycles.
