Two Michigan residents charged with making terrorist threats against state officials

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced charges against Alicia Choucair, 33, accused of threatening a Dearborn mosque and Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, and Anthony Dekinderen, 61, accused of emailing death threats against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and the state Supreme Court.

Choucair faces charges including a hate crime and threats of terrorism; Dekinderen faces nine counts of threats of terrorism, each carrying up to 20 years. Both were arraigned last week and remain in custody, with upcoming court dates in September.
