Russian strikes on data centers aim to harm businesses and sow panic

MiroHost founder Oleksandr Olshanskyi told NV Business that Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centers are militarily pointless but effective at damaging companies and spreading public panic, saying his own data center was 'virtually destroyed' without affecting frontline operations. He said calls from journalists spiked from roughly one a year to ten in a single day after the strikes, alongside rumors of total internet blackout and prices rising fivefold.

Recent strikes damaged infrastructure belonging to providers UTELS, Pavutyna, Crazy Network, CityHost.UA, and MiroHost, cutting connectivity for subscribers across Vinnytsia, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts. Olshanskyi said the goal is not a nationwide blackout but localized commercial harm paired with psychological pressure on civilians.
