Russian forces struck a Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia regional passenger train on Sept. 8, killing a train attendant, according to Ukrainian rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia. The company said the train had been stopped in advance after a threat was detected and passengers evacuated to a nearby mobile shelter, but the attendant returned to the train after the evacuation order and was killed.

Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi urged staff and passengers to heed evacuation orders and take shelter during threats, and said buses were being arranged for affected passengers.

The strike follows two drone attacks earlier the same day on a Kyiv-Sumy train, which was stopped without injuries, and a Sept. 5 attack near Chornobaivka on a Kherson-bound train that damaged two locomotives and injured two people.
